中醫: Chinese Medicine Hall
Know much about Chinese medicine?
Well, friends and I were fortunate enough to learn more about the subject as we made our way through the National Museum of Natural Science (國立自然科學博物館) in Taichung City (Taiwan) this past weekend.
Displays within the museum include alchemic concoctions, herbs, acupuncture models and needles, moxibustion, as well as reviews of important philosophies and writings. Short films appear as you meander through the exhibits highlighting aspects of Yin-Yang Theory (陰陽論 yīnyánglùn), Five Elements Theory (五行論 wǔxínglùn), Zang-fu Theory (臟腑論 zàngfǔlùn), the Meridian System (經脈論 jīngmàilùn), and so on. There’s introductory material for newer people and a lot to observe and research for anyone really interested.
It was fun… and education to boot! The models and displays we passed by are below.

Hey, thanks for the comment! Electro-acupuncture is very safe and effective when used by properly trained acupuncturists. Even MDs have adopted it for use in muscular/sports injuries. MDs don't understand point combination practices very well, but this isn't usually as important for muscular issues and they typically have better anatomical knowledge, so there's low risk of them causing harm.

in the states (and elsewhere), there are these hand held massage things being sold now that work off the same idea – my mother had one!! lol.. but i can see how it might look pretty scary at first, or if you had a bad experience, etc..
